Litigation and Dispute Resolution

Tannenbaum Helpern's Litigation Department, which is chaired by Vincent J. Syracuse, aggressively represents clients in state and federal court cases, in arbitrations, in administrative tribunals, and in alternative dispute resolution forums of all kinds.

We try cases and we argue appeals. We are determined and creative problem solvers and we win difficult cases. Our practice encompasses a broad range of contested disputes including corporate and intellectual property matters; employment cases such as restrictions on competition, thefts of trade secrets and defalcations; contracts and business torts; antitrust, dealer termination, and other trade regulation disputes; and real estate litigations of various kinds. We also supervise and manage litigation here and abroad for clients who require a centralized strategy for cases pending in several jurisdictions.

Many of our litigation clients are referred to us by former adversaries, by other attorneys at law firms who recognize our strengths, and by parties against whom we have litigated.

We handle complex matters on behalf of companies large and small. We also handle bread and butter disputes that will never be reported in the Wall Street Journal for companies and individuals. We know the difference between them, and we handle them both well. Our experience enables us effectively and efficiently to satisfy the litigation needs of all clients, regardless of size. When clients have an internal legal staff, we work together with them. We are also particularly responsive to the needs of smaller clients, who may require a different approach and a more personal involvement.

We provide focused, cost-effective, representation, whether our client's entire future is on the line, or in more conventional disputes. Because of the depth of our experience, we are able to make strategic choices throughout the life of a litigation, and advise our client when a particular motion or a discovery initiative is - and is not - likely to achieve our client's goals.

We believe that it is essential for us to formulate with our client, early in a case, preliminary views about the client's potential exposure and likelihood of success, and about the most efficient way to proceed under the circumstances. Our litigators work with clients to develop a joint plan to minimize costs while pursuing the best strategies to accomplish the client's legal and business goals.

In every case, in every forum, we understand that success requires us to marshal the facts and legal arguments that support our client's position and to persuade the judge, jury or other tribunal that our client's cause should prevail because it is right.
